World Series, Wedding Cakes, and a Sore Throat

So, we're doing a pretty pathetic job keeping this blog updated. Yesterday, was amazing! For the first time in history - the Texas Rangers clinched the American League and will now have their first appearance in the World Series. Glad to say I have tickets for the home games, and was able to witness the Rangers destroy the Yankees last night, 6-1.

In other news, today was supposed to be the day we met with the Cake Lady. After a morning of shopping for Texas Rangers Championship shirts with Cindy and Kristi, we headed out to Keller to meet with Chasity, the cake lady. As we were approaching Starbucks, Jay asked, "so, how will we know it's her?" I responded, "she'll have some cake in some containers." As I checked my phone to make sure we were meeting at the right place, I noticed an email from Chasity saying that she had a sore throat and would need to reschedule our meeting.

So today we are just going to take it easy. Having dinner tonight with the Ways, and Andrea is working on her scrapbook with her mom. Still so much left to plan, so keep posted for more updates!

Wedding Bells in Breckenridge

This past weekend, Andrea and I enjoyed a weekend away together in Breckenridge... TEXAS that is. My cousin Clint married the love of his life - Kristin. Needless to say, the weekend was all about them, but Andrea stole some of the thunder as well - talking about the proposal, the wedding, and getting some ideas of what she might like at her wedding. We came back late Saturday, enough time for me to watch the Rangers lose the next day... boo!

Today, Andrea did what she does best - spend money. She went dress shopping with Laura, her mom, my mom, and my sister Nicole. They successfully narrowed down the bridesmaid's dress and, of course, her dress. She won't tell me anything about either one of them, but that they look great and I'll have to wait until May.

Also, we're in the process of finding a photographer, putting together a guest list, and deciding on the cake! So if you know anyone that's good (Andrea calls it "Cheap") - let us know!

It seems like a far way away, but I know will time fly by fast. I can't wait to marry my best friend!

Our Proposal

Every morning, I bring Ranger over to Jay's house on my way to work. This allows us to be together at night after work. On October 1st, as I pulled in the driveway, I noticed a red rose on the front door with a card attached. The card read how much he loved me and that he wanted to share with me the many reasons why he loves me!

As I got to work, there was a second rose on my desk with another card sharing with me a reason why he loves me. And every hour (on the hour) after that, people I work with at the Salon would bring me another rose with a card attached to it. By the time Jay showed up at 6:00 to pick me up for dinner I had accumulated a dozen roses!

We went to dinner at the best restaurant - The Ranch in Las Colinas. Together, we shared a fantastic meal with all the ingredients from the state of Texas! We also shared a nice big piece of chocolate cake!

After dinner he took me to a nearby dock where we took a romantic gondola ride through the Las Colinas canal. It was so romantic, especially after we encountered the waterfall. As we continued, the Gondolier made a comment about how he doesn't appreciate people who throw their garbage in the canal as they walk by, including bottles which get caught in the motors.

The Gondolier pointed out a bottle which was floating in the water and asked me if I wouldn't mind getting it out of the way. I reached over and pulled the bottle out of the water and placed it on the floorboard thinking it was a bear bottle.

Jay bent down and picked up the bottle and pulled out a piece of paper that had been rolled up. I opened it up and read what it said:

"Today is a special day for you
I hope you had some fun
Especially all the roses
that came delivered one by one

I've thought about making sure
I had all the timing just right
to pick a day you would
remember the rest of your life

Now here we are
on a romantic gondola ride
and I just need to know
Will you be my bride?"

Needless to say, he soon after pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked me to marry him! Of course, I said, "YES!" It was a great night - one we will both never forget!
